Pak Automation Ltd have recently completed a special purpose labelling system for accurately labelling punnets of strawberries and other fruit and vegetables.
The customer needed a system which enabled fast changeovers and ease of set-up with the addition of being able to label punnets running back to back at up to 30 metres per minute. The applicators are stepper driven and microprocessor controlled and are mounted on handwheel height adjusters with dial clocks for recording the position set.
There are also handwheel lateral adjusters with clocks, which are independently variable. The PVC belt chosen is a food grade belt fitted with a tracking guide and with a dimpled top so as to ensure labels are not stuck to belt. A variable speed AC Motor drives the belt. The complete machine was mounted on locking castors and fitted with jacking screws.
